“I don’t lift weights because I don’t want to get huge.”

I’ve heard this one way too many times. To put it simply… you’re not going to get huge by just lifting weights. Unless you’re squatting 350+lbs, deadlifting 450+lbs, and eating more than 4000 calories a day, you are not going to be big and bulky.

Women seem to generally have this concern more than men. And for all the women who worry… it’s not going to happen. Muscle building is induced by testosterone. Seeing women have less than men, they will build less muscle, which is why it’s almost impossible for a woman to get “bulky” without drug help. Weight lifting is very important, and yes from it you will build muscle, but not to the point where you can’t touch your face.

Men on the other hand can put on muscle more easily, but will still not get gigantic without really heavy weights. As I stated before, strength is muscle. And it takes a really long time, and a lot of food, to get to that point where you’re lifting weights as heavy as those pro Bodybuilders. And even then, most of these giant dudes can’t do it without the help of steroids. Not saying that it’s always the case, but pretty much most professional body builders are not natural.

Strength training is still very necessary to be healthy and fit, and the muscle you add will look good on you. Don’t worry about limiting the weights; as I said, you really have to try and try very hard to get to that point. Just keep getting stronger and losing fat, and you’ll see you had nothing to worry about.
