Are These Workouts Good for Women?

In case you were wondering, these workouts are for everyone and anyone. Exercise routines are not geared to men or women, but rather, geared to fitness goals. I put a wide variety of workouts so you can choose depending on your goal.

Now which program would you find more appealing?

Majority of girls typically ask me for a workout routine that will make them “toned.” But to say it now, toned is just simply fat loss with muscle gain. If you have only fat loss, i.e. from only running, you will not get the look you want. This is why muscle gain is very important. It helps with fat loss and will give you the look you’re working for.

The best types of workouts for this are cross-training/circuits. They combine cardio with resistance training, which will help you burn a lot of calories, build strength and muscle, and lose fat. The other workouts such as bodypart splits or 5×5 Starting Strength will do similar for women (giving that ‘toned’ look), since you don’t build as much muscle as men do. However these workouts don’t incorporate cardio, which is why they aren’t the best method of doing so.

And best part is, circuits are very quick and can be done at home with no equipment at all! Dumbbells are very helpful for increasing intensity and building muscle, but body weight exercises are a fantastic way to start. Use one of the circuits I have suggested to get you started, and see your way to that look you’ve always desired.

As for men, circuits are still an excellent place to start. They will really help with fat loss and you’ll still build plenty of muscle from it. If you’re mainly looking just to build a lot of muscle, then focus on body-part splits or Starting Strength.
